Mike is special counsel in our Philadelphia office and represents major property and casualty insurance companies in coverage disputes. A seasoned litigator with over twenty-five years of experience, Mike handles a wide variety of insurance disputes under lines of insurance including commercial general liability, commercial property, directors and officers and professional liability policies.

Mike has particular experience in the resolution of coverage claims for long-tail liabilities including environmental clean-ups, asbestos and mass tort liability and has litigated issues including trigger of coverage for long-tail environmental claims and claims involving allegations of sexual abuse, allocation of coverage among multiple triggered insurers, enforceability and application of policy exclusions for asbestos and pollution-related liabilities, applicability of aggregate limits of liability, insurance regulatory matters, and allegations of bad faith. He also advises insurance companies on other first- and third-party claims, including business interruption claims related to the ongoing coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic and claims involving insurance coverage for sexual molestation claims. As national counsel for his clients, Mike has handled cases in courts across the country, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Ohio and New Mexico.

Michael also has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution proceedings and frequently counsels clients on how to achieve a cost-effective effective resolution of coverage disputes through the use of mediation or arbitration.
