Philippa Duxbury is a special Counsel in the Melbourne Healthcare team with almost 30 years of experience in the area of health law.

Philippa has extensive experience representing medical practitioners in both litigated and unlitigated compensation claims. In the main, this has been representing doctors in civil claims alleging medical negligence in the Supreme Court and County Courts, including high value claims for catastrophic injuries, claims for psychiatric injury, and obstetric cases. Philippa has represented medical practitioners in a large number of expedited proceedings, mainly involving terminal cancer, and has acted in numerous multiple defendant claims.

Philippa’s practice includes assisting and advising doctors in investigations by AHPRA, immediate action hearings, and representing doctors in hearings before VCAT.

Philippa also represents doctors in coronial investigations and inquests, and complaints to the Health Complaints Commissioner.
