John Mackenzie

John is a solicitor of 16 years PQE. He is the manager of the disease team in Manchester and a member of Kennedys Disease Senior Management team which is the strategy group on disease.  John is a member of the Kennedys Emerging Risks committee.

John deals with both long-tail and short-tail claims and is instructed by insurers and corporates. During the course of dealing with claims, he has dealt with senior company management including General Counsel and Company Secretaries. John has provided them with advice on the potential impact of the defence of the claim, including upon reputation and the impact of risk of floodgates and confidentiality. He has dealt with a number of claims against multinationals.  John is a regular speaker at disease conferences and has written a number of papers and articles on disease. John spoke at the 2018 and 2019 conference in London and Manchester on the topic of disease risks in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

John deals with complex disease cases including mesothelioma, lung cancer, noise, hand-arm vibration as well as asthma, dermatitis and stress. He is particularly expert in dealing with limitation issues, including hearing of limitation as a preliminary issue. John has won all the disease cases which he has contested to trial.

John is assisted by Solicitor Tanveer Rakhim who is 7 years PQE who is an expert in disease claims. He deals predominantly with Hand Arm Vibration, Work Related Upper Limb Disorders and noise claims. John is assisted also by Nazia Begum, who is a paralegal. Nazia deals with claims for noise.
