Dan is a senior associate in the Manchester office. He qualified in 2010 before joining Kennedys’ fraud team in 2013.
He represents numerous insurer clients and handling agents, mainly in respect of suspected fraudulent motor claims. He has developed a speciality in recent years dealing with claims against foreign drivers following road traffic accidents in England, under instructions from the UK handling agents for various EU based insurers.
As well as defeating numerous claims on the basis of fraud concerns, he has helped implement some highly effective procedural strategies which have led to strike-outs and findings of no jurisdiction on the grounds of incorrectly pleaded claims against foreign insurers.
He has also built up experience dealing with travel sickness claims.
Dan is a member of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL).
He is a regular contributor to Kennedys’ fraud team’s blog, “Fundamentally Honest”, and has authored and co-authored articles on the subject of fraud deterrents, defending claims without witnesses and low velocity impacts.
In addition, he has delivered webinars for the fraud team covering both the detection of fraud and fraud deterrents.
Work highlights
- Defeating 8 claims under the umbrella of an operation relating to a particular accident management / credit hire company, their linked organisations and the suspected fraudulent claims which they appeared to
be driving, resulting in 3rd party damages savings exceeding £0.5 million with an average damages saving of over £70,000 per claim. - Strike outs and successful costs recoveries on several claims featuring claims incorrectly pleaded against foreign insurers with no cause of action being identified.
