Ingrid is head of our Complex Casualty Coverage Team and sits on the firm's Strategy Board. She is based in our London office. Ingrid is an insurance and reinsurance specialist whose significant experience covers policy coverage disputes across many classes of business. Ingrid advises regularly on product liability and recall insurance, crisis covers including political and financial risk policies, cyber risks, professional indemnity, financial institutions, directors’ and officers’ liability and Bermuda Form wordings.

Acting for many of the world’s largest (re)insurers, Ingrid has dealt with litigation, arbitration and mediation of significant and high profile matters across a broad range of jurisdictions that cover the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe and South Africa.

Ingrid has a comprehensive professional indemnity practice and has advised on off shore trust claims, claims against technology companies, publishing houses, off shore law firms and motor racing claims. Used to working on multi-jurisdictional claims, Ingrid has considerable experience in liaising with foreign lawyers, brokers, experts and (re)insurers.

Ingrid is Past President Elect of London FOIL, a division of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers that supports the insurance and reinsurance law firms and lawyers working in the London and Lloyd’s market.

Ingrid is a co-author of Kennedys’ Claims Handling Law and Practice Guide, the fourth edition of which was published in February 2021.

Ingrid contributed to the writing of Kennedys' ‘Rewriting the risk: Addressing the challenge of climate change’ report, which was published in July 2022.

Work highlights

  • Defended a supplier of steel for coal wagons involving South African, English and Australian jurisdictions.
  • Advised manufacturers of parts for the automotive industry on product recalls, kitchen appliance manufacturers on recalls in the USA and a FTSE 100 company in claims involving steel ropes.
  • Successfully defending the supplier of panels for a large development project which resulted in a multi-party mediation, and advised insurers in relation to a dispute concerning allegedly-defective paint on a multi-million pound development project.
  • Successfully defended an engineering company in a claim alleging design errors in a roller coaster, and the insurers of a mine following a major landslide which resulted in high value claims under a public liability policy.
  • Advised insurers in the aftermath of a number of major fires, including the total destruction of a health club in west London, the total destruction of a huge storage facility in east London, and a fire at an industrial estate in the Midlands and has considerable experience of surveyors' negligence claims.
  • Successfully represented the Federation International de L'Automobile (FIA) in proceedings concerning allegations of negligence in track safety/inspection: Wattleworth v Goodwood Road Racing Company Ltd; RACMSA and Federation International de L'Automobile (FIA) [2004].
