Martin Trier

Martin is an associate at Kennedys in Denmark. He graduated from the University of Copenhagen in 2008 and qualified in 2011.

He was admitted to the High Courts in 2016, and has appeared in the City courts as well as the High Courts many times and is an experienced litigator.

Since Martin qualified, he has worked as a litigation attorney, but he has also worked as an in-house counsel in major Danish insurance companies. Therefore, Martin has hands on experience within almost all lines of insurance.

Martin has over the last 10 years focused on advising on professional indemnity, directors’ and officers’ liability, technical claims, including liability for architects and engineers, product liability, property claims, coverage advice, recourse as well as excess and reinsurance.

Martin is appointed by the Danish Attorney Association as a censor for the case trial test for trainee solicitors. Furthermore, Martin is a member of the Danish Law Society and networks such as the International Insurance Law Association (AIDA) and Association for Compensation and Insurance (FEF).

Work highlights

  • Acted in a high profile case before the Eastern High Court case regarding liability for main contractors for damages on objects outside of the contract caused by subcontractors.
  • Assisted partner Morten Erritzoe Christensen in the IT Factory Scandal (not public) - ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) arbitration on £50 million financial scandal – Bankers Blanket Bond Insurance.
