Kevin qualified in Northern Ireland in 2012 and joined Kennedys in August 2018. Kevin specialises in Employment law acting for employers in Industrial Tribunal and Fair Employment Tribunal proceedings.

Kevin has significant experience acting for, and advising employers on a wide range of employment issues including Employment Status, Unfair Dismissal, all forms of discrimination and issues arising from business transfer disputes.

In addition, Kevin provides day-to-day guidance to employers on a range of internal employment related issues including drafting of contracts and policies, the conduct of internal procedures and compliance with best practice and statutory procedures.

Kevin is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and the Employment Lawyers Group Northern Ireland.

Work highlights

  • Instructed solicitor in the NI Court of Appeal case of Department for Employment and Learning v Morgan No. [2016] NICA 2 wherein his client successfully defended an application issued by a Government Department. This significant judgment found that the payment of a dividend to a Company Director was not incompatible with employee status.
  • Instructed solicitor in the NI Court of Appeal case of McCann, John and Jonathan McCann and Vector Facilities Management and Wallace Contracts (NBI) Ltd [2013] NICA 14 a judgment which had significant implications for Tribunal Practice and Procedure in NI.
