Kennedys wins ‘Top Employer in Law’ for school leavers

We are delighted to announce that we recently won the Top Employer in Law award at this year’s School Leaver Awards, following honest feedback from our apprentices.

The Top Employer in Law category recognises the best employers within their industry. In an extremely competitive category that consisted of Eversheds, Gordons, Hill Dickinson, Irwin Mitchell and Shoosmiths.

The fifth annual awards ceremony, hosted at London’s Waldorf Hilton Hotel by comedian Ed Byrne on 25 May 2017, announced the winners of 36 categories – including skills development, career progression, training and company culture – as decided by surveys completed by apprentices and school leaver trainees from 100 UK organisations.

Kennedys also moved up from 38th best employer of apprentices in England to 9th in the Allaboutschoolleavers rankings – higher than organisations such as BT, EY, Lloyds Banking Group, Morrisons and Virgin Media.

Since we began recruiting legal apprentices in 2012, we have welcomed 35 legal apprentices across the UK offices. Last year we recruited 11 onto the paralegal apprenticeship scheme (which takes two years to complete) and received a high commendation earlier this year as Large Employer of the Year at the Apprenticeships for England Awards. In March, Chelmsford legal apprentice Laura Birks was named Apprentice of the Year by BPP University Law School – beating 90 other entries in her category to secure the award.
