Kennedys recognised by peers in The Times’ Best Law Firms 2020
We are very pleased to announce that we have been recognised as one of the ‘Best Law Firms’ in England and Wales for insurance in The Times’ Best Law Firms 2020.
In addition to this, our expert teams have also been commended within the personal injury and clinical negligence, and professional negligence categories.
The annual rankings, compiled by international research company Statista, are based on feedback by lawyers in England and Wales who were asked to recommend the best law firms in any of the 26 categories covering business, public and private-client fields. Respondents couldn’t vote for their own firm or vote more than once.
Described by The Times as ‘a global litigation powerhouse’, our work on some of the UK’s most high profile cases, client focused innovations and continued growth was referenced in the official summary of our inclusion in the latest rankings.
The Times stated that:
“With 2,000 staff across 38 offices including 11 UK bases, Kennedys is a global litigation powerhouse. Best known for defendant insurance and reinsurance, it acts for major insurers, Lloyd’s syndicates, government bodies and NHS trusts on work including employment, professional negligence, public liability and personal injury.
“The firm has been heavily involved in work arising from the Grenfell Tower fire, advising the building’s insurer, Protector, on regulatory matters and representing Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation in the public inquiry into the disaster.
“Kennedys has introduced an online “virtual defence lawyer” in England and Wales that guides clients through the litigation process without the need for human input. This year, the firm said that it had enabled clients to settle more than 80 per cent of their claims without a lawyer and announced plans to roll the platform out to some of its foreign offices.
“The firm acknowledged that the development seemed “counterintuitive” in the pursuit of profits but said that it had helped the firm to gain market share. It posted turnover of £218 million for the most recent financial year, a record, and opened a new office in Bristol, demonstrating a continued commitment to domestic work as well as big-ticket international instructions.”
This follows a recent independent and wide-ranging industry report that ranks insurance law firms across a variety of areas on their London Market work, in which we were ranked as the most used insurance law firm in both the UK and Latin America, as well as ranking highest for service satisfaction levels and for the number of leading lawyers, named in the report’s research, that are known for outstanding service. The Gracechurch London Market Insurance Law Report 2019 also found that we lead the market for innovative use of technology.
