Kennedys are celebrating the achievements of one of our young apprentices, Tegan Johnson, who has been named as one of BPP’s apprentices of the year.
Tegan, who joined the firm in 2017, is a solicitor apprentice in the real estate and construction team in Kennedys Sheffield office and has spent the last four years studying law with educational provider BPP, as part of her apprenticeship with the firm.
Tegan was awarded Apprentice of the Year - Level 5+. This is an award across all the apprenticeships that BPP provides, not only legal apprenticeships.
Commenting on her win, Tegan said: “I’m so pleased to have won this award, and grateful to those who encouraged me to enter it.
I would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone who is considering a career in law, I love the balance of studying alongside gaining real-world experience in the office every day.”

An early pioneer of legal apprenticeships, Kennedys’ commitment to supporting and developing the next generation of lawyers has seen the firm recruit 84 apprentices in the eight years it has been running its apprenticeship programme – 75% of whom have remained with the firm.
Last year the firm was one of the first to announce it was launching an innovative new training programme which allows law graduates to start working at Kennedys, while gaining qualifying legal work experience in one of its teams before sitting the SQE1 and SQE2 exams required to qualify as a solicitor.
In 2020 we also launched a virtual work experience programme, to allow the widest possible pool of would-be lawyers to gain a taste of legal life. The four-module programme offers real work experience as participants complete a variety of tasks to gain legal analytical skills, develop legal knowledge of the insurance industry, and learn critical legal communication, research and drafting skills.
