Code-switching is defined as the adjustment in language, behavior, and appearance that a member of an underrepresented group makes to adapt to the dominant culture. Although this concept can be seen as positive, as it is a useful skill for employees who must navigate different scenarios and identities in both their professional and personal lives, it can also be a barrier to inclusion. This occurs when people hide their true selves at work to fit in. This event aims to explain this concept, which is still relatively new in the Colombian insurance market, and provide tools to identify and promote an inclusive environment where employees can present their authentic selves.
