As part of our women in business series, and to celebrate International Women's Day, we are delighted to be hosting an international hybrid seminar on Thursday 7 March 2024. This hybrid seminar will be live streamed globally from our London office.
Claire Bushen, Partner at Kennedys will be joined in person by guest speaker Dame Kelly Holmes, an inspirational former international athlete whose 12 year career saw her set a number of British records, in the 600m, 800m and 1000m. She is also the first women ever in Great Britain to win two gold medals at the same games in the Athens Olympics 2004.
At 17 Kelly joined the British Army, becoming a fully qualified HGV driver and Physical Training Instructor with an army career spanning 10 years. She was awarded an MBE for services to the British Army in 1998. In 2018 Kelly was appointed Honorary Colonel of the Royal Armoured Corps, marking her return to the army. She is the first and only person to date to be made an Honorary Colonel attached to a regular Army unit, which was a post approved by the late Queen Elizabeth II. Her appointment makes her the only Colonel Dame in the World.
Attendees will gain insight into Dame Kelly’s varied life and career, with personal stories on how her determination and resilience have helped her to overcome adversity. We hope you’ll leave inspired and energised as Kelly talks about the challenges that come with intersectionality, performing in high pressure environments, the importance of wellbeing and gaining freedom in being your authentic self.
