Q&A

What do you find most interesting about your job?

As part of the commercial litigation team in Melbourne I enjoy working with a wide range of clients across various industries, getting to know their business and working together to find the optimum solution to overcome the challenges that they face.

What do you find most challenging about your job?

The most challenging aspect of my job is also one that makes it the most rewarding. Almost every case is different. Also, clients’ needs are always changing. This means that in every case I need to get across new facts and legal principles whilst balancing the client’s everchanging needs. Whilst challenging, the sense of accomplishment on understanding and overcoming these new issues is one of the things that keeps the job interesting and engaging.

What advice would you give someone interested in going into law?

Keep an open mind and be flexible. Don’t have any preconceived ideas about what sort of law you want to practice and refuse to move from that. Plenty of my peers along with myself started with an idea of what they wanted to do, and on starting realised it wasn’t for them. You may end up surprising yourself.

What do you enjoy most about working at Kennedys?

The culture and the work. The standard of work at Kennedys is second to none. From big international matters that involve offices from numerous continents to working with large national corporations on matters that have enormous reputational and financial consequences. All of this at a firm where you really feel like you’re part of a team and everyone is willing to help you out.
