We recently spoke to Riley about what changes she would like to see for women in the workplace in the next 10 years and her female role models within the legal field.
What key message would you like everyone to remember from this year’s International Women’s Day?
I would like to share a message of inclusivity and support, regardless of background or job title, and especially in the office. International Women’s Day is a day to encourage engagement with our female colleagues, friends and family members. I see it as a day to celebrate equality and opportunities for women in the workforce, which is something in which everyone can partake.

It’s important to build each other up in the industry, whether that be through networking or lending an ear over coffee.
What message would you like to send to women who are just starting their careers?
Having been in the legal industry for 10 years, I want women who are just starting to know that it’s never too late to change course or direction. I was so unsure when I fell into the role of a legal secretary but now I am confident I am on the right path – always learning and growing!
How important is it for women to support each other in their careers, especially in fields like law and insurance?
Without the support of my female colleagues, I wouldn’t be where I am today. It’s important to build each other up in the industry, whether that be through networking or lending an ear over coffee.
Why did you join the women at Kennedys network?
I joined because I wanted an opportunity to give back, after so many women have supported me in finding my feet (and still do).
Who are some female role models in the legal field who have inspired you, and what lessons have you learned from them?
I am constantly inspired by and learning from my female colleagues, from admiring the tenacity of female partners to the resilience of legal secretaries, the patience of female supervisors and managers, and the drive of office juniors.
What changes would you like to see for women in the workplace in the next 10 years?
Sticking to this year’s IWD theme ‘Accelerate Action’, I would like to see equal rights fully unlocked in the workplace. I am so proud to work in a firm that supports women in all roles globally!
What's a place you've always wanted to visit but haven't yet?
I’ve always wanted to visit the French Riviera, it’s on the bucket list!
What's the most memorable concert or live performance you've attended?
The most memorable concert I’ve attended was probably Michael Bublé – who knew he didn’t only just sing Christmas songs!
