We recently partnered with Allianz to host a student insight day with award winning charity, Bridging Barriers - focused on supporting young people aged 16-25 from underrepresented backgrounds
Bridging Barriers are an an award-winning non-profit that helps young people with big dreams but minimal access to careers education and networks.
The aim of the day was to provide meaningful exposure to careers in insurance and law - sectors that can often feel out of reach.
Fantastic opportunity to learn, network, and gain hands-on experience in the legal and insurance industries. The day was not only inspiring but also gave me a clearer understanding of the various career paths available and the skills needed to succeed.
Our shared goal was to create an engaging and informative interactive experience that would help students make more confident career choices, while building the skills and networks needed to support their personal development.
The team co-designed four bespoke sessions from scratch, ensuring each one was tailored to maximise student learning and engagement. We brought together 20 volunteers from both Kennedys and Allianz to support the day - taking part in speed networking, a panel discussion, an interactive settlement case study presentation and an employability skills workshop.
Volunteers shared personal stories and practical advice, giving students valuable insights into how skills from school, further education and life experiences continue to translate into their day-to-day roles and career progression.
I recently had the fantastic opportunity to visit the Allianz offices in city of London, in collaboration with Kennedys and organised by Bridging Barriers. The session was incredibly insightful, offering valuable knowledge about insurance and law.
Over 30 students took part in the event, and early feedback highlighted how beneficial it was to hear directly from professionals about the ‘nuances’ of the corporate world. Students said they left feeling more informed and more confident about their career paths. For many, it was their first opportunity to connect directly with people working in the insurance and legal sectors.
This initiative shows the power of collaboration and the value we can offer clients through our Responsible Business programme.
