Q&A
Why did you decide to join Kennedys?
Kennedys’ work is extremely diverse in the Dubai office, and I enjoy the variety. There is always a new challenge to overcome, and I enjoy working alongside and learning from lawyers who are excellent at what they do. The culture also suits the type of environment that I like to work in. My colleagues are supportive and approachable. Kennedys is also good at promoting a work life balance, which is even more important to many lawyers since COVID-19.
What do you enjoy most about working for a global law firm?
I enjoy meeting and working with colleagues from other offices. The ability to work together across jurisdictions is seamless and productive. Kennedys also encourages employees to work in other offices in the network, which is fantastic, both for expanding your network internally and for flexibility when travelling.
How does Kennedys support you in your career?
My colleagues give me continuous feedback on my tasks, which allows me to focus on those key areas for development. At the same time, my team praises me on my work where appropriate, which is also important, especially as a junior lawyer, in growing your confidence and recognising your skills.
What advice would you give someone interested in starting a career in legal?
To be open minded and take on any opportunities that are offered to you. Law is a diverse and fast-moving career, so you never know what experiences lay ahead and the people you will meet. Law is not a ‘9-5 job’, it is a ‘lifestyle’. It is therefore important to remember to trust the process because it can be stressful at times, but it is highly rewarding and will shape you as a person. Law changed my life and gave me opportunities that I could only have dreamt of as a child growing up.
