Miguel’s is a senior associate in Kennedys' Madrid office, who specialises in advice, coverage disputes and defence work in complex matters for insurers across multiple jurisdictions within EMEA, particularly within Financial Lines.
His expertise includes advice and litigation in respect of all types of financial lines products and claims i.e., professional liability, Directors and Officers liability insurance, Employment practice insurance (EPL), financial institutions’ insurance, Bankers Blanket Bonds (BBB), and Surety and Credit Insurance.
He also has experience in bankruptcy matters, with particular emphasis on civil director's liability in insolvency proceedings.
Qualified in Madrid at the Universidad Complutense in 2011, prior to joining Kennedys, he worked in two different international law firms and completed a Master's Degree in Corporate Law at Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE)
Work highlights
- Acting on behalf of several insurance entities that constituted an insurance tower in relation to a claim against the directors and officers of one of the leading construction companies in Spain.
- Acting for insurers of the BBB policy of one of the Spain’s largest banks in relation to losses exceeding a policy limit of 30 million euros.
- Acting on behalf of a Saudi credit entity in relation to the challenge of the refinancing agreement approved by Abengoa in pre-insolvency proceedings for an amount of 27 million dollar.
