Tim is a legal director in the marine team with wide experience of both contentious and non-contentious aspects of dry-shipping and charterparty work.
Tim re-joined Kennedys in 2025 after five years’ experience with an International Group P&I Club, following more than ten years in private practice. Tim is experienced in a wide range of shipping related legal matters, including energy and offshore disputes, marine insurance coverage advices and recovery actions, and non-contentious advice on contractual clauses and other matters. He has significant experience in international arbitration, predominantly on LMAA terms, and of High Court litigation and he has also led successful mediations for clients.
Tim has wide-ranging expertise in dry-shipping matters including advising clients on hire claims, demurrage & delay claims, speed & performance claims, damages for repudiation, and misdelivery claims. He is also experienced in assisting clients with non-contentious matters, including drafting bespoke clauses for charters, and advising on the interpretation of ambiguously drafted clauses prior to a dispute arising.
Tim has published articles in legal journals, including a cover article in ICLG’s “Shipping Law 2013”, and he is a cited source in “Offshore Contracts and Liabilities” in the chapter covering wilful misconduct and gross negligence exclusions.
