Janine Clark
Profile
A Special Counsel in our Brisbane office, Janine primarily focuses on casualties. She divides her expertise between personal injury, particularly PIPA claims (public liability including labour hire in heavy industry and mining and marine claims), third party property damage including contribution and recovery claims, and coverage disputes. Janine specialises in matters with an unusual or complex element including subtle brain injury and concussion claims, multi-party fatality claims and catastrophic injuries following incidents aboard pleasure crafts as well as those with an industrial prosecution overlay and an unknown cause of incident, the application of limiting liability clauses in supply and installation contracts, issues of delay and causation on large scale construction projects and of quantum and causation in cases of fire damage and high profile explosions.
Janine regularly advises on coverage, defence and contribution/recovery issues with a strong focus on strategy, solution and commerciality. Janine is currently working with the Kennedys IQ team on a PIPA streamlining project, contributed to the recent Claims inflation and personal injury claims: a global review report (published June 2023), and sits as a committee member for the Association for Women in Insurance Queensland.
