Kennedys has a long association with the rail industry with a number of our team having worked in house. The team has extensive experience of advising and representing clients on a wide range of matters including public inquiries and investigations, manslaughter, health and safety, environment, employment, nuisance, loss and damage claims, dispute resolution and catastrophic personal injury.
The team has been involved in public inquiries, criminal investigations and prosecutions arising from the major UK rail disasters of the last 30 years including, Clapham, Kings Cross, Southall, Ladbroke Grove, Hatfield, Potters Bar and Lambrigg, and it is involved in ongoing criminal investigations and prosecutions and related inquest hearings, as well as other regulatory defence work arising from rail accidents and incidents.
The team has an especially prominent employment practice in the rail industry acting for several major train operators with particular expertise in handling industrial action, litigation and change management matters for large transport operators, in industrial disputes and reorganisation matters.
