What attracted you to the Practice Training Contract at Kennedys in Singapore?

Kennedys is a JLV, enabling it to leverage local and international legal platforms to handle complex cross-border transactions and disputes. The opportunity to be exposed to cross-border matters from various jurisdictions attracted me to do my PTC here. The firm is also coupled with lawyers who are leaders in their respective areas, with a wealth of knowledge and experience to share, which made the training experience more enriching.

What does a typical day look like as a Trainee at Kennedys?

Official working hours start at 9.30am, which is great! A typical day usually involves researching, drafting and having internal team discussions on file matters. There are also opportunities to engage with clients through client meetings

What advice would you give to someone who wants to apply for the Practice Training Contract in the future?

Don’t be afraid to apply! Have a good sense of the areas of law you would like to practice in but remain open to exploring other practice areas - you might end up enjoying them even more. You may also consider doing an internship here before applying for the PTC to see if the firm is a good fit for you!

The opportunity to have an international training experience. The JLV structure we have here at Kennedys appealed to me. I felt like I wouldn’t be confined to local Singapore matters and would gain exposure to cross-border work. The opportunity to learn from people and lawyers from different jurisdictions excited me as well!

Always be hungry to learn and have a positive and open mind to anything that comes your way during your training. Whether it is a small or big task (legal or administrative), there is always something to learn. Look for a firm that supports your growth and learning, and that has a culture that you can thrive in.
