Corporate social responsibility

Kennedys is committed to creating a healthy, equitable and sustainable future for our people, our clients and our planet.

In 2020, we undertook a review of our CSR and sustainability policies and how we optimise these and challenge ourselves to improve upon our global programmes.

Sustainable Development Goals logo

In September 2015, all United Nations member states adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs set a global agenda for overcoming poverty, protecting the planet, and promoting peace and prosperity.

In 2020 Kennedys signed a Letter of Commitment to align our CSR and sustainability objectives to the UN Global Compact’s 10 principles framework.

Kennedys has prioritised five of the 17 SDGs that we feel are most relevant to our business and have set commitments and targets to work towards achieving these.

Our CSR commitments have been developed in alignment with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals which are central to our strategy.  A summary of our commitments aligned to our five priority SDGs are set out below.

United Kingdom

Our UK offices currently support the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity in a partnership that was voted for by our UK employees. The Rainbow Trust supports seriously ill children and their families, enabling families with children that have life-threatening or terminal illnesses to make the most of their time together.

The various UK offices have so far held and participated in a variety of fundraising activities including a Charity Quiz, Half Marathons, Halloween Fancy Dress and a Lands End to Scotland Cycling event. Each UK office has a Charity Champion in place to look at ways in which our employees can support Rainbow Trust via local volunteering opportunities and regional fundraising activities, whilst the entirety of the UK offices will come together in summer 2019 for a large challenge event. We hope to have a very successful and engaging partnership with Rainbow Trust.

Hong Kong

The Hong Kong office has been supporting Hong Chi Association (“Hong Chi”), a non-profit making organisation dedicated to serve over 7,000 people of all ages and all grades of intellectual disabilities since 2014. In December 2017, colleagues from the Hong Kong office visited Hong Chi’s hostel and celebrated the festive season with the residents there. Apart from Hong Chi, the Hong Kong office also showed their continuous support to the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation (“HKBCF”) by sponsoring and participating the annual Pink Walk. Over 70 staff, together with family and friends attended the Pink Walk in October 2017. The Hong Kong office has received the Caring Company award from 2016 – 2020 and will continue to show their support by organising various charitable activities in future.
