Louise is a Partner in Kennedys’ Sheffield office within the Abuse team.
Louise qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 2005 and as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2006.
She has a focus on local authority work and mainly deals with claims involving allegations of historic child abuse including vicarious liability claims, failure to remove and neglect. She also has experience of defending employers’ liability, occupiers’ liability and highways claims.
Louise has been heavily involved in the drafting and implementation of a Redress Scheme implemented by one Local Authority client, faced with a number of historical abuse claims. She now shares the responsibility for the management of the team dealing with redress claims and the client relationship.
She has attended training provided by the National Association for People Abused in Childhood on supporting adult survivors of childhood abuse.
She has contributed to a training webinar for LexisNexis, which provided a procedural and case law update. She has also hosted a series of round table events providing a forum for local authority clients to share ideas and experiences and review their horizon scanning.
Louise is actively involved with the Association of Local Authority Risk Managers (ALARM), both locally and nationally. She is also a member of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL).
Louise has assisted several local authority clients in the drafting and implementation of their updated highways code of practice. She has also provided regular training on this topic.
