Camila Ramirez - Day in the life
Camila is an Associate based in our Santiago office.
On the days that I don't have classes, I have lunch with my office colleagues on the 8th floor of the building, outdoors, and then, if we have time, we go to have a coffee somewhere or go shopping in a mall that is near the office.
Camila Ramirez, Associate
I usually start my day around 6:30am, as I tend to have hearings in the mornings.
A positive effect of COVID 19 is that hearings today are by videoconference, to avoid travel. The foregoing is positive since it is no longer necessary to go to court, which are in the centre of the city, this allows me to have more time to carry out my functions.
I arrive at the office around 8:20am and make myself a coffee, check my emails, write and submit some papers. Then I check my calendar for the things I have to do and prioritize them, making a list. That list is my daily work, and as I complete the items on the list, I cross them off to continue with the next one.
After knowing what my list of priorities are, I catch up with my manager and discuss these in further detail. We normally meet every Friday at 3pm to coordinate the next couple of weeks which includes assigning tasks, coordinating attendance at hearings, among others.
On Mondays and Wednesdays I have English classes. I usually have a quick lunch in the office kitchen. On the days that I don't have classes, I have lunch with my office colleagues on the 8th floor of the building, outdoors, and then, if we have time, we go to have a coffee somewhere or go shopping in a mall that is near the office.
During the afternoon, I check over my daily list of priorities, however, like any office, new requirements always appear during the day, which must be attended to immediately.
After I have completed all my tasks for the day, I arrange to meet with some friends in a restaurant near the office to catch up.
